MINUTES of a MEETING OF THE SUMMER PROGRAMME COMMITTEE JULY 6, 2000 Held at Trent Radio House at 5:00p p.m. PRESENT: Emily Addison, William Bain Chantal Barrette, Theresa James, Al Kircaldy, Nancy Logger, and Chris Tonelli, being Executive Producers; and Clay Jones, being the Summer Programme Coordinator REGRETS: Daniel Cooper, Chris Scroope ABSENT: Melanie Hannah The second meeting of the Committee for 2000 was called to order with Clay Jones acting as Chair and Emily Addison acting as Secretary. After a approving the Minutes from the last meeting of the Summer Programme Committee, held 27 May 2000, the following issues were discussed. 1) MERCHANDISE - The Executive Producers were curious as to how they could obtain merchandise; postcards, stickers and t-shirts, in order to sell them to those interested. It was decided that can notify the Summer Programme Coordinator in advance. The necessary items will be brought down from the office for the next time the requesters are in Trent Radio House. 2) ID's - Trent Radio is in need of some new ID's which can be broadcast. These are to be recorded by anyone interested and the Coordinator will schedule an ID 'party' as soon as the state of the Studio B computer has been determined. Executive Producers are to be notified by email or phone 3) CLEANLINESS - A better effort must be made to keep Trent Radio House clean, especially now that the Coordinator's mobility has been reduced due to a foot injury. It now falls upon the Executive Producers to ensure the House is spotless before they leave. If necessary, this includes vacuuming and washing dirty dishes. 4) SCHEDULES - The schedules have returned from the printers and are ready to be distributed throughout the Peterborough Community. Executives Producers were asked to take a few and pass them around. 5) SPONSORSHIPS - We now have one (1) new sponsorship which must air thirty-two (32) times before August 18th. In order to accomplish this, the new sponsorship, Greg Clark's Affordable Used Cars, is to be played twice daily as noted in pen on the Programme Log, once during Smooth Operator and once before sign off. 6) FUNDRAISER - Discussion ensure in regards to having a benefit concert to raise funds for Trent Radio, and suggestions were made on dates, venues and bands that would be interested. It was decided that Clay Jones would investigate the Gordon Best Theatre and then Al Kircaldy will look into the Red Dog Tavern and Nancy Logger would inquire at the new Hot Belly Mama's. Suggested bands included Pat Walsh, Dave Tough, the Diplomats, Jackson Sanatorium Blues Band, the Astounding Years to Come, Winners for Victory, Scarpa, Wilk-e (with Ben Rough), Rik Fines, Chris Tonelli and Nancy Logger, and Mike Waterman amongst others. IT was decided that the benefit should include as many diverse bands as possible and that the show start early evening/late afternoon and continue on throughout the night. Suitable dates were discussed and it was decided that there were four good possibilities. These are; the 29th or 30th July; or 4th, 5th or 6th August. Executive Producers will be asked to help with postering. 7) SOCIALS - It was decided that another social be held either the weekend of the 14th or the following weekend. Ideas for possible locations included John Muir's and Greg Conchelos. Another social was planned for the end of the 2000 Summer Broadcast Season, possibly tied in with a friendly game of Frisbee Golf. 8) TROUT RODEO - Emily Addison is looking for any creative input for 'Trout Rodeo' a newsletter about the goings-on at Trent Radio. She will be away until the middle of August so any ideas should be given to Clay Jones. 9) THURSDAY EVENING - It was noted that Daniel Cooper, one half of the Thursday evening Executive Producer team, including Theresa James, is no longer in town and therefore is unable to continue her duties. As well two Programmers have left, leaving 18:00-19:00 and 22:00-24:00. A decision was made to broadcast 'Alternative Radio', pre-recorded, spoken word material during 18:00-19:00 and that the other time period. It was also noted that Theresa would be leaving around 25 July and that replacement Executive Producers would have to be found. Theresa has a few candidates who will meet with Clay on Thursday, July 13th. The meeting adjourned at 5:48 p.m. ------------------------------- ------------------------------- Clay Jones, Emily Addison, Summer Programme Coordinator Executive Producer
