Summer Programme Committee Meeting No. 2 - Thursday 28 June 2001 PRESENT Mike Reynolds (Monday evening programmer) Greg Conchelos (Tuesday evening programmer & Operator-At-Large) Sam Tweedle (Wednesday evening Executive Producer and programmer) Blair Anderson (Thursday evening programmer & Op-At-Large) Kristine Williams (Thursday evening Executive Producer & SPC) Regrets: Mark Waenink (Monday EP & programmer) Erin Sootheran (Monday EP & programmer) Chantal Barrette (Tuesday EP & programmer) Al Kirkcaldy (Tuesday EP & programmer) John K. Muir (Saturday Executive Producer) + other invited programmers: Brian Fontaine, Chris Harris, Dan Morrison, Greg MacDonald, Jason Stabler, Jenny Scott, Mike Yurick, Ryan Hawley and Tim Howey). * Kristine Williams called the meeting to order at approx. 5:15pm, and began by introducing each attendee. * First issue discussed: Promotions. Everyone examined the Spring Programme Schedule and discussed ways to create a similar one for the summer season, as quickly as possible because the season is now half over. Blair & Sam offered to volunteer some time to produce an artistic template...deadline determined ASAP. Discussed creating handbills emphasizing programming themes, e.g. creating one for spoken word programmes, one for specific music programmes etc. Greg offered to work on those. Distribution of all finished flyers divided up; Mike: southern end of downtown, Greg: Park, Charlotte, Aylmer, McDonell, Sam: George, Simcoe, Hunter, Murray, Water, Blair & Kristine: George N, colleges, campus (all locations included businesses as well as poster boards). * Mike & Greg suggested that a new station ID be recorded for off-air time to let our listeners know that Trent Radio will resume programming at 5pm. Everyone expressed concerns that we may lose listeners who tune in during the day to find dead air, and then don't bother to tune in at night. * Programme Promos: Kristine & Greg are going to record promos for all programmers who haven't done theirs yet. Note: we may take some artistic freedoms, and this is a warning. Mike will be out of town and Kristine offered to record his, and Blair and Sam promised to record theirs ASAP. As well, Sam will be bugging his programmers to get theirs done. * Special Projects: Kristine mentioned that the Monday - Thursday programming schedule is now full, so programmers and producers can now concentrate on other projects for Trent Radio and the Peterborough community. Mike admitted that he did not know that programmers had to pick up extra projects, and Kristine assured him that extra participation is not mandatory, but that any cool things that have happened around here in the past was because of dedicated and determined volunteers who wanted to contribute more that just their own programme. With that in mind, all attendees quickly came up with a Radio Project Day idea that not only kicks ass, but also links up two worthy organizations: Trent Radio and the Peterborough Folk Festival. See forthcoming email for more details, and make sure everyone gets involved (and not just Trent Radio people - this one's for everyone!!!). * As the meeting came to a close, Blair mentioned that there should be more programming meetings and socials, as he wants to meet all of the other programmers and producers but has not had a chance to yet. Agreed that the Station ID BBQ set for Sunday 8 July will be a great chance to meet new folks, as well as collaborate with them in producing new IDs for the station. Next meeting set for less than a week's time, so that we can get started on the Radio Project Day immediately. * Kristine ended the meeting by congratulating all present for contributing to a fantastic summer season so far. Inquired about any general tech problems, and informed all that the transmitter is now working at full capacity. Confirmed CanCon stats for each evening, as well as membership status of all present. Minutes taken by Kristine Williams & Blair Anderson, and compiled by Kristine Williams. [end]
