General Manager's Report for BoD 20Feb02 / John K Muir Transmitter: The transmitter continues operate with spurious emissions, and no move has been made to find qualified and local technical support. Weekend Echo: This is a re-airing of previously broadcast programmes on the Saturday following their first hearing. Trials continue with positive comments coming in. Gzowski Tribute broadcast: On Sunday, 17Feb02 at 9am, Trent Radio in collaboration with Trent University broadcast the Peter Gzowski tribute event which took place at Trent University's Wenjack Theatre on the previous Tuesday, 12Feb02. TISPOC: The hoped for funding from Heritage Canada has not been approved. Alternative sources are being sought. It is recommended that Trent Radio wait until these avenues have been exhausted before making a direct application to TrentU for support in digitising the CJON collection. Live Music Day 2002; Held on 29Jan02 and primarily planned, and produced by students from Trent University's Cultural Studies 346 class, was a great success as a broadcast, as a didactic exercise and as a social event. Well done to all involved. Former Trent Radio programmer, Greg Brophy, is now a Queen's, education student and plans to work on creating radio related curricula for public school grades as part of his current degree. Work on Studio C continues with the last meeting scheduled for the week beginning 11 March 2002. 'Audio Soup' - a weekend long set of workshops on audio production for about seventeen folks from near appears to have been a great success. It was noted though, that a Studio C would have really come in handy. In addition to about a $2000 net from the event, in addition to the expense of about $600 worth of tech gear being covered, there were two other elements of note. Many of those engaged in teaching had never played that role before, and they came through with flying colours. Trent Radio can now claim it has the organisational maturity and reach to successfully undertake a project such as this. My sincere thanks to all involved. [end]
