General Manager's report for BoD Meeting 23Jan03 I am grateful to Emily Addison for working with me on constructing a "to do" list for this new year. What follows is a point form report showing various items and their state of completion. OFFICE Completed or nearly completed - Bookkeeping to 31 Dec 02 is complete - References for CBC internships - SOCAN return licence amount and music log completed To start or still with substantial work to do - Trillium accounts and recording of expenditure has not started - Letters and charity receipts Trevor Alderdice & Donna Gordon - Barb Bell and Barb Holtman letter of thanks $1,250.12 a very successful Radio Marathon. - return charitable information Information Program Director TUMS Meeting with the Trent U BoG re: Student space. A invitation from Student BoG Member Mike Izzo was accepted to meet on 31Jan03 along with other student groups TECHNICAL & PLANT We have a mic boom for Studio on loan. The old one finally fell apart. The stairway light leading to the offices needs to be repaired. The furnace fan belt was replaced under our Heating Insurance Plan. The upper apartment furnace was leaking water and this has been corrected. A substantial amount of work was done to secure the bottom of the stairs for the upper apartment, in addition to repairs to the brick work above the main door leading in from the porch. The outside porch door was repaired door and reinstalled with a closer. LEVY REPORTING Student groups met with Trent U Finance Office on 03Dec03. A draft reporting template has been prepared and is being circulated for comment from all parties. Also a reporting policy for student groups may be proposed with a view to having this in place for the next academic year. STUDIO C Hiring digital ingest clerk, job description to be prepared and posted. OWSP Incoming Music Ingest Clerk hiring - Phil Abbott is investigating his eligibility, and if all goes well he would start next week. Paul Merriam will be reporting on a suggested methodology of ingest and tagging. He is also to help with work on the finding aid. Statistics for Trillium (e.g., number of volunteer hours) &c are yet to be produced. This is for a report due 31Aug03 Trent University Music Society is considering the donation of an electric piano for the Studio C project. A meeting is be scheduled with Trent U Computer Studies students who form a team led by Pablo Carbajal Siller. They are to present their findings and suggest options for programming and programmer data, which fits into the Studio C project. Equipment purchases and installation One computer has been purchased and three more are ordered. A large data storage unit, two turntables, a cassette deck and reel to reel tape recorder are still required. A large (120GB) hard disk was installed into the main server to provide extra storage space for programmers and to start the spoken word ingest portion of the StudioC Project. In addition a faster network card was installed into the StudioB computer to speed up transfer of data to the network. SUMMER CAMP A package of information from CKCU in Ottawa has yet to arrive. Emily and John meet after looking at package Audio Soup (Feb 15-16) Registration (oral publicity and registration) has started. There is room for eight from Peterborough with a total of about sixteen. So far we have three attendees from Peterborough. I need to recruit trainers, and prepare for catering and equipment prior to the event. [end]
