Radio Workshop, November 1st 1994 The aims of this workshop were threefold: to introduce people to the potential of the medium of radio; to introduce the idea and development of radio plays/drama/skits; and to discover the interest level and possible numbers of people who would participate in the production of skits. I obtained Tony Ross, a long-time CBC drama producer, to lend us his experience and wisdom for the occasion. He generously acceded. Judging by the comments and answers i received afterword from the attendees, all three aims were fulfilled. Although not all had been familiar with radio drama before, all evinced a lively interest, and everyone present was eager to pursue it further. I have a list of names and numbers to call and arrange a gathering for discussion, brainstorming, writing, and planning. I also have a list of those who wanted to attend, but were unable due to various conflicts of scheduling. This group is the nucleus around which will accrete more auditorially-inclined devotees. The workshop was an excellent springboard for action. Mr. Ross has graciously offered his services as needed for further development, either through more workshops (if required) or technical advice during production (or both). One thing that could have been improved was the advertising. Increased advance notice and greater coverage should have occurred. Undoubtedly, more people would have come had they known. In the not-so-distant future, I would like to hear skits being produced on a regular basis, written and acted by audiophiles like those who ventured out to this first session; and eventually by those who have not yet realized that they are...
