TRENT RADIO MINUTES 9 May 1997 MINUTES OF A MEETING OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF TRENT RADIO, held at 640 Reid Street, Peterboro Ontario, on the 9 May 1997. P R E S E N T: Barb Bell, Franca Cioffi, Andrew Fogarasi, Dean Girard, Lisa Howard and Danielle Tassie. R E G R E T S: Emily Watkins Also present: Barb Woolner, PD; & John K Muir, GM The meeting was called to order at 3:15 p.m. with Andrew Fogarasi acting as chair and Lisa Howard acting as secretary. With all the directors being notified of the time and place of the meeting, and a quorum present, the meeting was declared duly constituted. An agenda was agreed upon and discussion followed. Previous Minutes: The minutes of the last meeting were unavailable. Financial Report: John Muir reports that we are doing fairly well financially. We have the equivalent of ten months loan payments in the bank. General Manager's Report: Turntables donated by C.K.P.T. will be installed in Studio A.. These turntables will play records at 78 r.p.m. John Muir hopes we will have access to more used equipment as commercial stations devolve. As a side effect of restructuring at commercial stations, TR may become the only community based station in the area. We will continue to emphasise a student first approach, while broadening our mandate to include community access. John is having trouble getting manuals and measurements from Promethean. John is going to approach Nicole Bauberger about TR signage. He also reported that we have received a grant to hire a summer programme co-ordinator for twenty weeks. Upon a motion duly made, seconded and carried be it resolved that Scott Gordon has been awarded an honourary membership at Trent Radio. Upon a motion duly made, seconded and carried be it resolved that Andrew Cousins has been awarded an honourary membership at Trent Radio. Committees: Fundraising & Special Events: Barb Bell has raised about eight hundred dollars with the Casino Rama benefit. She is planning a Sadie Hawkins benefit concert for one hundred and fifty people on August 30th/97. Dean Girard has agreed to produce tickets for this benefit. Programme Director's Report: Barbara Woolner says that the changeover from winter to summer schedules was smooth. Barbara is producing a playlist for S.O.C.A.N.. St. Anne's school produced a French immersion programme. The Peterborough Labour Council is also producing programmes and did a special on May Day. A tourism class has approached her to do a programme. Barb is looking for suggestions for what to do next year.
