PROGRAMME DIRECTORS' REPORT for board meeting Aug 15 1997 Barb Woolner Goals for this Broadcast Year Programming * Reflection. reassessment. Digging up the roots. Look back to move forward. I perceive that this is a time of change. New frequency, new broadcast area, new interests, changes in CBC and commercial radio within Peterborough * Development of Radio shorts (Community Comment, BookMark and others) to potentially increase participation in programming and to encourage a variety of possible formats * Radio Project Days to continue (note: increased pre planning esp. dates and themes) * To use Trent Radio to promote itself. That is more PSAs, announcements, on-air Operators' meetings, on-air training towards the goal of developing a TR community (note: listeners as potential programmers, members or sponsors) * Skill development for volunteers. Note: new section added to Programme Proposal to recommend training desired. There are increasingly more returning volunteers who may have new goals and challenges. Outreach * Radio Cafe. Trent Radio kitchen on the road. Second and forth Tuesday of each month at a variety of restaurants, coffee houses etc. around the broadcast area. Topics and hosts to be arranged. * Guest speakers. Note: Andra McCartney, (sound artist) Trent Alumni wants to visit in the fall with listening stations and presentation of her work. Suggestion for the Spring... * Elementary school projects TBA * work with college cabinets (2 events a year?) TBA Personal * manage stress levels for health reasons * enhance organizational skills 'TIL WE MEET AGAIN Programme Selection * Pre-season programming Sept 2 - ? (schedule announcement) This will be done by experienced Trent Radio Programmers. All day? * New proposals will be back form the printer soon (Regular Running and Special) Note: some rearrangment and addition of sections. * Deadline Friday September 12 at noon. * Work with Programme Selection Committee that weekend to have schedule ready ASAP. * Basically same format as last year with room for flexibility. This may be shaped by the proposals that come in. * Testing testing 1, 2, 3 - welcome to Trent Radio sessions at each college and at the public library * On air training * Live broadcast from campus (Club Days Wed Sept 3). Planning is now taking place. * Production of Trout Rodeo. * Development of responsibility and job description for a new level of organization - "Trainers"
