TRENT RADIO MINUTES 14 November 1997 MINUTES OF A MEETING OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF TRENT RADIO, held at Trent Radio 715 George Street, Peterborough Ontario, on November 14, 1997. P R E S E N T: Barb Bell, Andrew Fogarasi, Franca Cioffi, Lisa Howard, R E G R E T S: Danielle Tassie, Dean Girard, and Emily Watkins. Also present: Barbara Woolner, P.D. & John Muir, G.M. The meeting was called to order at 5:35 p.m. with Andrew Fogarasi acting as Chair and Lisa Howard acting as Secretary. Operations Report See Attached Programme Director's Report: Barb Woolner - See Attached Financial Report: f/s for 31 Aug 97 subject to adjustment - see attached f/s for 30 Sept 97 subject to adjustment - see attached the error in categorizing sponsorship expenses will be corrected General Manager's Report: John Muir reports that the new tariff on Neighbouring Rights are on a scale which is unfair to campus/community radio (see attached email from Magnus Thyvold to NCRA listserver). It was suggested that we commit the amount of the tariff cost towards fighting the tariff, and is looking into the possibility of a charitable exemption. We are looking into buying used equipment with which to monitor our signal. In the interim, we are entering into an agreement with Communications Plus to have them provide a monitoring service. (see attached) A response has been written to Bruce Knapp's letter in the Examiner. (see attached) UPON A MOTION duly made, seconded and carried, it was resolved that the Operations report, including the General Manager's report, the financial report, and the Programme Director's report was approved. It was noted at this time that the number of full time students at Trent for 97/98 was 3999. UPON A MOTION duly made, seconded and carried, it was resolved that the General Manager shall seek confirmation the numbers of, and monies paid by full-time students for the previous five years ended 1997. It was note that John Muir shall look into the enrollment figures for the previous five years and compare them to the levy disbursments. Committees Propaganda & Publications Trout Rodeo is out. The board thanks Dean Girard and Tim Cromey. Radio Links No report Special Programming No report Fundraising & Special Events Barb Bell reports that there is one full bus for the casino trip on November 21. It was noted at this time that everyone wanted to ride on the bus with Andrew Fogarasi. Personnel Upon a motion duly made, seconded, and carried, the board accepts as amended the letter of agreement between Trent Radio and John Kenneth Muir. It was noted at this time that Barb Woolner will also receive a benefit in lieu of a health plan, in the amount of $85.00 a month, effective January 1 1998, and that negotiations for renewal of her contract will commence by early March 1998, with consideration towards benefits and a fuller term of employment. Any Other Business The next Trent Radio meeting will be held on November 22, 1997 at noon at Trent Radio.
