PROGRAMME DIRECTOR'S REPORT for board meeting Nov 14 1997 Barb Woolner What has Happened? * I am still in the process of scheduling weekend programming and contacting those who proposals have not been selected. I have been meeting with applicants to chat about how they can be involved at Trent Radio. Some new shows have been added to the schedule since the printing of Trout Rodeo. * Trout Rodeo is at the printer. Copies of the programme schedule insert have been circulation. The Arthur has contacted me about printing the schedule in an upcoming issue. Tim will add some of the changes before submitting. * Update on the Ontario Work Study Positions filled (Note: these are students I have hired and work with) Training and Production Support - Brendan Edwards Music Archving Magician - Kash Sayed Both of these people are working out well in their jobs. Please note that Sahver Kuzucuoglu has resigned due to too many prior commitments. What is Happening? * There is a Radio Project Day on Tuesday November 18. Radio Art Day is being coordinated by Kristina Rawlings. * Radio Cafes are stalled indefinitely. * Update on the Anthropology and Tourism class, programmes will air at the end of this month. * Update on the idea is for Activity Haven (a recreation programme for seniors) to have a radio club. This project has been put on the back burner due to lack of time on my part to commit to the initiation of this project. * Update on the Katimivik project in Peterborough. One Participant (Frederick) will be coming to Trent Radio for a two week period (starting Monday November 17) for an interest project. I anticipate that the will work with the Operators and Co-op students for the first week and find a project of his own for the second. * Update on Pinewood Alternative School has made connections with me via a Trent Radio Programmer (Esther Caldwell). Possibilities for their students at Trent Radio was brought up at the parents' meeting October 26 and I will be presenting a session with them in early January. What is Coming Up? * Sound artist, (and Trent Alumni) Andra McCartney is speaking Tuesday November 18 at 7:00 at the Senior Common Room at Peter Robinson College, Andra will present some of the work of Hildegarde Westerkamp in an interactive session. * A youth forum has contacted Trent Radio to sit on it's Radio in Communities panel. It was scheduled for November 21 in Bomanville but has been postponed until February. * Radio Project Days for the new year (so far) Black History Month Celebration, International Women's Day, Aboriginal Languages Awareness Day On Going * on-air and technical training is planned for Thursdays noon - 1:00 with Brendan. Notice is in the Arthur and a PSA has been made. Training is open to any one who pre-registers. * archiving parties take place Wednesdays 1 - 4 with Kash as the host. * regular Trent Radio Open Houses are still to be planned. * books from independent publishers are coming in for the BookMark series. Reviewers are needed. Further contacts are needed. Other Notes * I need to recruit Operators for Thursday and Friday afternoons as well as Operators-at-Large for the weekends.
