MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF TRENT RADIO MEETING, held at 751 George Street on 30 Sep 1998 at 1:30 p.m. P R E S E N T: Grant Ball, Esther Caldwell, Bill Thompson and Andrew Parker. R E G R E T S: Francesca Cioffi and Nick Smith Also Present: Barb Woolner, Programme Director & John K. Muir, General Manager Notice of this meeting, having been duly communicated to the Directors, and a quorum being present, the meeting was called to order declared duly constituted at 1:45 p.m., with Bill Thompson acting as Chair and John K Muir acting as Secretary. PREVIOUS MINUTES: UPON A MOTION duly made, seconded and carried unanimously, the Minutes of the Board meeting held 23 September 1998 were approved. BUSINESS ARISING: There was no business arising. COMMITTEE REPORTS: Propaganda & Publications Committee; Esther Caldwell presented this report. The weekly "Radio Log" is set up with the "Arthur" for the rest of the year. Invitations have been made to Ptbo This Week, Ptbo Examiner, and Vibrations to do stories about programming and programmers. Quid Novis and PrimeTime maybe approached over the next few weeks. It was decided that Trout Rodeo will be a one page schedule with a note about the Radio Salons, sponsor and Power Broadcasting thank yous and some contact info. A electronic copy of the "Radio Logs" will be kept on the TRadio Web site. Community Links; Franca Cioffi has been tied to her post on campus, and Bill Thompson reported that he will check with her if any more work needs to be done on the pamphlets, before they are printed. Nominating Committee; The Nominating Committee is scheduled to meet next Wednesday, 7 Oct 98 at 1:30 at TRadio House. Fundraising & Membership; Casino Rama 16 Oct 98 - One bus holding 44, with tickets at $13 per person. Grant Ball will prepare the tickets ($20). Halloween Dance - to held at the Baker's Hill Centre on 31 October 98. Tickets are $25 per couple and expenses $7.40 per person - a lunch will served. There will be donated prizes for best costumes and spot dances. The net is about $5.10 per person. Barb Bell will prepare radio promos for Casino Rama, the Halloween Dance and an invitation to membership. NEXXUS - Grant will prepare a report for the next meeting. The preliminary numbers are a loss of about $350 with a paid attendance of about 150. Grant will underwrite the loss. It was noted that Grant and his partner Allyson Longmuir put in many hours work to make NEXXUS a success. The event was a great deal of fun and all those who attended, including the Djs who were well taken care of. Music: There was no report available at this time. Social Secretary; Andrew Parker has invited Suzie Young, Cult Stud Prof & former TRadio Board member; Lisa Whittington & Al Pinkerton, Arthur editors; and Martha Tancock, former Fortnightly editor to the first salon, set for Wednesday, 14 Oct 98. Andrew will convene the event. The Hangman will contra radio publicity for room usage. Barb Woolner will ask Chris Tonelli to prepare a promo for the event. John Muir will have the "week-before" posters distributed. OPERATIONS: Summer Programme Coordinator's Report - see attached; UPON A MOTION duly made, seconded and carried unanimously, be it resolved that; the report of the Summer Programme Coordinators report be received and that Chris Tonelli be thanked for his good work during the 1998 Summer Season . Programme Director's Report - see attached; This year's proposals are of exceptional quality and there are more of them. It is hoped that the Fall Season can be announced on Monday, 5 October 98. The was a request that the next meeting be held one week earlier than the scheduled date of 28 October 98. The Chair will look into this.
