PROGRAMME DIRECTOR'S REPORT for Board meeting September 30 1998 Barb Woolner What has Happened? * Pre-season Programming started Sept 7 (we were broadcasting 8am - 10pm Monday through Friday, 7 - noon on Saturday and 7pm - 10pm on Sunday). * Approximately 120 proposals have been received since (the deadline was Friday Sept 18 at noon). This is an increase of 25 from last year. * Two email messages were sent out to applicant. The first was to confirm the receipt of their proposal, the second was to give them details of happenings at Trent Radio. * A Programme Selection Committee was established to review the Programme Proposals. Committee members were Matthew Elliott, Chris Tonelli, Warren Hurd, Mike Stevenson, Bill Thompson and Barb Woolner. Each proposal was reviewed by two of the applicants' peers, then I reviewed them. We made Foreground content suggestions too. I am still in the process of scheduling, interviewing and training programmers for the Fall Season. * I have been talking with all returning and new programmes about Canadian and Foreground content. The Can Con has increased to 40% (remains at 10% for Jazz and Word Music Programmes) and the Foreground requirements are a creative challenge. * Remote Broadcast from Symons Campus (Wednesday, September 9 noon - 4:00) as part of club days was very successful. Thanks to Mark Whiting, Steve Sayer, Derek Martin, Chris Tonelli, Nancy Logger, Bill Thompson and John Muir who looked after everything on site. * Remote Broadcast from The Trent Central Students Association office (Tuesday, September 29 1:00 - 3:00) in conjunction with their Open House. Thanks to Christine Oastler (TCSA), Paul Cleveland, John Muir and Kathy Cillis. * Trent Radio Open House (Monday, September 28 3:00 - 7:00) was not well publicised but we had a house full throughout the day. * Intro to Trent Radio Sessions were not held this year due to my health constraints. There are Radio Salons being planned by Andrew Parker and I am talking with people one on one on some of the details from the would-be Intro Session. * Announcement of Operators (so far that is) Monday (afternoon) Emily Watkins (evening) Matt Elliot Tuesday (afternoon) Kathy Cillis (evening) Bill Thompson Wednesday (afternoon) (evening) Thursday (afternoon) (evening) Erin Hawkins Friday (afternoon) (evening) Saturday (3:00 - 8:00) Sunday (3:00 - 8:00) What is Happening? * I am in the process of contacting those who proposals have been selected and scheduled.
