PROGRAMME DIRECTOR'S REPORT 24 Jan 1999 Barb Woolner What has Happened? * Ridpath Public School students continue to arrange for Special radio programmes. Their French teacher, Lyn-Marie Gallant arranged for her students to prepare short presentations for broadcast and I have gone to the school to record them. This is the forth year she has done this. * Our Co-Op student, Melanie Hannah did an amazing job in organizing all of the programming for the Entre Season (December 20 - January 1). Her placement is now completed. She earned three high school credits with very high marks. She is missed already. * The Good 'n Country, 24-hour Marathon fundraiser was held Friday December 18. * An Open House was held on December 18 from 3:00 - 7:00 during the Good 'n Country Marathon. * Battle of the Bands. Barb was a judge at this New Years' Eve celebration. The winning band (Trike Stunts) won a slot on the Live Music Day. * The Spring Season began January 9 1999 and runs until April 30. * Radio Project Day on the theme of Live-Music was held Tuesday January 19 from 11:30am - midnight. It was a resounding success with 47 local musicians performing and a dozen Trent Radio folks helping out with the planning and execution of the day. Special thanks to John Muir for the extra gear that was needed. Morgan Merritt, Sean Daniels, Emily Watkins, Matt Elliot, Kathy Cillis, Chris Tonelli, Bill Thompson all deserve a collective pat on the back. Morgan and Sean are also looking after the recording of the day and making CDs for performers to purchase and a compilation CD for Trent Radio use.. * There is a now and Operator for Wednesday nights, Sean Daniels. * Some new programmes: - Development Dimensions Tuesdays 11:15am - local organizations - Rabid Radio Tuesdays 4-5 - the creative lives of grade 7 students - unnamed Wednesdays 2:30-4 - new music at TR and the Internet - Plexxus Wednesdays 4-5 - arts and culture of Ptbo, youth views - Four Corners Thursdays noon-1 - new and traditional world music - Renegade 30 Fridays 11:30-noon - a new CD review - unnamed Fridays 6-7 - Canadian music and variety show - Red Herrings What is Happening? * On-air and technical training is scheduled for Thursdays at 11:30.
