Propaganda and Community Links Committee for the BoD 29 Jan 99 Prepared by Emily Addison - I researched the qualifications for being a featured story on the CBC television show 'On the Road Again'. - I wrote a letter that was both mailed and sent through the email to 'On the Road Again' telling them why I thought Trent Radio would be a good candidate for their show. (see attached) - On a slightly different note, I spent approximately 50-55 hours researching record labels, distributors, agents, and artists on the internet. I then contacted them, requesting CDs for the station, explaining to them Trent Radio and why they should provide music to the station. Since then, I have been replying to return emails, and thanking people who have sent music. Note: Ideas have been brewing for other activities and I will explain those at the meeting as well. --transcript-- Emily Addison Trent Radio c/o Peter Robinson College Trent University Peterborough, ON K9J 7B8 dated: a little while before 29 Jan 99 Dear Wayne and the staff of 'On the Road Again', I am writing this letter to you in the hope that you might consider doing a story on 'Trent Radio - The Community Radio Station'. This is my first year being involved with the station, CFFF 92.7 FM, but I believe that the environment and people would make a wonderful story for your show because we are one of a kind - a very interesting community indeed. I applied to host a Celtic/East Coast show this fall, and much to my excitement, I began the next week. Since then, I have become addicted to the radio and I am now on the Board of Directors. I believe that every producer, including myself, has pretty much the same philosophy for their show in that they want to create something that is interesting and educational. We offer shows for practically any interest - old country music to techno, cooking shows to AIDS discussion. Other shows include hours devoted to chatter on hilarious subjects, local politics, shows produced by kids, as well as experimental radio. The only thing that we try to stay away from is the music that listeners get to hear on most every other radio station. Our station is interesting in that we are funded mainly through Trent University but we are a community station. We have two full time staff, a few part-time student workers, but everyone else volunteers their time. Our station runs out of a quaint old red brick farmhouse like building with two studios and a kitchen where we can chat and share information with each other. We even have a tenant upstairs! It's a wonderful experience! This and more - we have to offer 'On the Road Again' for a story. I think that we, as a station, could become an excellent story for your show for the reasons listed above and for many more. Please come and check us out here in Peterborough - I believe it would be well worth your time. Yours truly, [signed] Emily Addison eaddison@trentu.ca
