General Manager's Report to the BoD 13Aug99 prepared by John K Muir Summary Items: We have drawn a $15,000 advance on next fiscal year's student membership fee, and now have a records of our account activity with Trent University to 30Jun99. It appears we will making extra billings of about $2,900 for recording web lectures ($1050 less -$132exp), Trent U greetings ($400), a video transfer ($250 less $200exp), and advertising from Elections Ontario, and the Peterborough NDP ($1200). The net should be a little more that $2,500. This more than offsets the revenue lost ($1.024) while the upper apartment has been vacant to afford repairs and improvements. The new monthly rent is $575, and Trent Radio volunteer, operator and classical storyteller, George Kovacs will be the new tenant commencing 1 Sep 1999 with a one year lease. The upper apartment has been fitted with a new gas furnace, and new flooring in the kitchen hall and bathroom. There was an unexpected problem with the duct run for the furnace which has been resolved by hiring a carpenter to move a wall. Terry Etheridge (doing business as "AS BUILT") has been asked to supply a inspection report on the whole building, and a quote to repair the soffit near the chimney which has been chewed away by rodents, in addition to being contracted to build a new wall for the new furnace unit. The report will detail priorities and costs. The SCP grant comes to an end on 20 August 1999. Chris Tonelli will remain tied to the radio mast during the shutdown while Barb Woollier and I attend "Full Moon over Killaloe" during the week commencing 29 August 99. A new computer (and upgrades to other computers) was made in the amount of $3,300. Something more than half this amount will be offset by charges made to the "Full Moon" event for audio and related computer equipment. Barb Woolner returns as paid staff Programme Director, on 16 Aug 99, on a forty week contract ending 21 May 00. Kootney Coop Radio sent the last payment in for the old QEI 675T75 transmitter just prior to the end of July. The building next door the Trent Radio (west along Parkhill) has a new owner, and better relations are to be hoped for.
