General Manager's Notes for the Board of Directors 05 Nov 99 / jkm 1) The Year End is still not done. The Auditor who make the financial review has been advised that the book are now scheduled to be ready on 18 November 99. The delay has been mainly caused by the combined factors of an increase in new volunteers, co-op responsibilities, building and transmitter concerns, participation in "Full Moon Over Killaloe", the installation of a new computer network, and Y2K concerns regarding replacing the present accounting software. An AGM could be held near the end of the Fall season (17Dec99) or after classes resume, 10Jan00. 2) Transmitter trouble. The transmitter appeared to be cycling from normal power of 500 watts to 150 watts and back during the cool and frosty evening and mornings of September. John Matthews and a colleague from Promeathen Electronics attended here during the afternoon of Tuesday, 5 October 99. The inspection was inconclusive during their time here with all readings comparing well with normal operations. The problem simply went away, but returned on 21 and 22 October. It appears to have gone away again for now. It is recommended that action be taken if the situation increases in severity or crosses from episodic to chronic, or ... once something blows up. A contingency plan made be needed to alert programmers, supporter and listeners. 3) 715 George St. Terry Ethridge has prepared a detailed (22 page) report containing recommendations regarding the fabric of Trent Radio House. The most immediate and perhaps affordable direction is to repair and replace the eavestroughing. Other items would include parging the south basement wall and some landscaping. 4) TISPOC. It looked very likely that Trent U would be making a proposal on behalf of TISPOC to rent the east basement area of Trent Radio House. Terry Ethridge and myself met several times with University representatives, and Mr. Ethridge carried out extensive research to this end. However, a meeting between the University parties which included the Academic Vice-president resulted in no resolution, and the status of the proposal in now known at the time of writing. Although this may proceed at some point, and Trent University will have to make its intentions clear regarding its downtown operations, preparation and research was done in the amount of $591.38. 5) Radio Drama. The efforts of last year are still not produced. It is recommended that we join as a paying partner in a BlackLash production featuring the work of 18 Peterborough poets and storytellers (see attached letter from Ian Osborn) 6) Sponsorship. A new sponsorship flyer is in the prep stage. This work has been undertaken by Nahleena Tye who is studying at SSFC, [end]
