We are now hiring staff for four and a half positions including Station Manager, Program Manager, Volunteer Coordinator, Business Manager and Station Engineer (50%). The station is located in Cole Harbour, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia and is being started in response to racial conflict between communities that are geographically and culturally separate and distinct. The vision statement of the the Cole Harbour Community Radio Society is "building bridges among cultures and communities". CHCN 106.9 FM JOB DESCRIPTION Position: Station Manager Reports to: Board of Directors CHARACTERISTICS Superior communicator with strong interpersonal and leadership skills Cooperative, team oriented, and flexible Ability to work unsupervised and manage multiple priorities Open to a wide variety of cultural, musical, and political expressions QUALIFICATIONS Financial management experience including preparing and administering operational and capital budgets Demonstrated managerial and supervisory experience in a volunteer based environment Experience with musical and spoken word programming and production for Community Radio Computer proficiency TASK DIMENSIONS 1. Overall Management of Station Operations Ensure the Mission and Objectives are clearly communicated and carried out Oversee all programming and activities ensuring that they reflect the Station's Mission Ensure all CRTC and other relevant regulations are followed Maintain the safety and security of the Station Emergency on-air fill in 2. Human Resources Direct and supervise staff, working with them to ensure the appropriate training, coaching and supervision of volunteers Identify and implement creative ways of enhancing performance and personal development Offer guidance and leadership in all areas of the Station's operation Ensure employment procedures and policies are adhered to and proper records maintained 3. Follow Through Organize and/or attend relevant meetings as required (e.g. Board, volunteer, staff etc.) Prepare and distribute requested reports in a timely manner Coordinate special projects as required Assist the Board in directional and operational planning Act as the Station liaison with the community, government agencies, and other parties 4. Financial Management Administration of all financial affairs in conjunction with the Business Manager Assist the Board in developing Station budgets and operate the Station within those limits Oversee and participate in fundraising events Research and prepare funding proposals 5. Administration Maintain office supplies and ensure office equipment is in good working order Ensure databases are maintained and computers backed up Document and address concerns, incidents or disciplinary actions in a timely manner Keep Board up to date on the Station's progress and relevant concerns or incidents Preparation of license renewals and amendments to the Promise of Performance Note: Must be in receipt of Employment Insurance benefits or have received EI benefits during the past three years.
