We are now hiring staff for this station which is located in Cole Harbour (Halifax area), Nova Scotia. CHCN will serve communities that are geographically separate and culturally diverse. CHCN 106.9 FM - JOB DESCRIPTION (DRAFT) Position: Volunteer Coordinator Reports to: Station Manger QUALIFICATIONS Volunteer recruitment and group training experience Computer proficiency Experience with community radio or equivalent organizations CHARACTERISTICS Superior communicator with strong organizational, interpersonal and leadership skills High energy level, cooperative, team builder, and flexible Ability to motivate and develop volunteers TASK DIMENSIONS 1. Volunteer Recruitment Identify volunteer recruitment needs for each department or event Create job descriptions for each volunteer position Actively engage in a variety of creative recruitment methods to attract a diversity of volunteers Interview candidates and extend volunteer position invitations in accordance with the Station’s Volunteer Selection Procedure 2. Volunteer Placement and Training Place or re-assign volunteers by matching their interests and qualifications with the needs of the station Coordinate and deliver volunteer orientation sessions (include: volunteer manual, history, mission, policies and procedures etc.) Coordinate and deliver specific training sessions in conjunction with appropriate staff Coordinate opportunities for new learning experiences and skills (e.g. workshops) Monitor volunteer progress, satisfaction, and contribution to ensure timely adjustments Provide ongoing leadership, direction, and feedback to volunteers 3. Volunteer Program Administration Administer relevant tools (e.g. volunteer assessments/reviews, annual volunteer survey) Prepare and distribute appropriate volunteer activity reports in a timely manner Maintain volunteer filing system ensuring proper forms are filled out and records updated Revise related forms and materials as necessary (e.g. job descriptions, volunteer manual) Create a Volunteer Tracking System and keep the database updated 4. Follow Through Attend specified meetings Document any complaints or relevant feedback and ensure they are given to the Station Manager Communicate all relevant changes or updates to volunteers in a timely manner (e.g. policy/procedure revisions, new regulations) Coordinate a Volunteer Recognition Program Regularly incorporate results of feedback and lessons learned to enhance the station’s Volunteer Program Fund development Other duties as assigned Note: Must be in receipt of Employment Insurance benefits or have received EI benefits during the past three years.
