Deadline for applications is 5 PM, Friday, April 20, 2001. -- CKDU-FM Sales Director CKDU-FM is a non-profit campus/community radio station located on the campus of Dalhousie University in Halifax. CKDU broadcasts to Halifax and the surrounding areas. CKDU broadcast 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Job Description The Sales Director is employed by the CKDU-FM Society on a term contract as a part-time commission employee and is paid by commission on advertising sold and for which payment has been received. Conditions of the Sales Director's employment and job responsibilities and duties are set out in detail in the contract signed by the Society with the Sales Director. This contract is generally negotiated or renewed once a year. The Sales Director must be self- motivated, well-organized and familiar with the objectives and organization of campus community radio. Experience in various progressive social organizations or related volunteer work is beneficial. Sales and marketing experience are also important. The Sales Director reports to a Sales Committee at regular intervals. The monthly on-air advertising sales revenue goal is a minimum of $2000.00/month or a total of $24,000/ year, excluding GST/HST. The Sales Director will be paid 44% of the value of paid invoices for all on-air advertising sold and aired in any month where the revenue for this advertising is $3,000 or less, excluding GST/HST. The Sales Director is expected to follow the conditions and regulations in the (draft) Sales Policies. The Sales Director is required to work approximately 20 hours per week. Duties include: * negotiating contracts and selling air-time and program sponsorships on CKDU-FM, and print advertising as required * coordinating paid and contra event sponsorships and all other contra arrangements * preparing on-air advertising copy or script to advertisers specifications, CRTC regulations and CKDU-FM policies for content and style * over-seeng production of on-air advertisements in co- operation with Volunteer Coordinator * scheduling on-air ads in co-operation with Program Director * invoice advertising clients monthly and collecting all payments from advertising clients (this includes contacting each advertising client and making payment arrangements) * preparing logs and affidavits for clients as requested * keeping detailed and accurate records of all sales contracts and negotiations including contra arrangements made on behalf of CKDU-FM; which must be made available to the Sales Committee or the Board of Directors as requested * attending a minimum of two (2) meetings of the Sales Committee in each month * preparing the following reports: (a) monthly sales report; (b) year-to-date sales report; (c) invoicing and collection status reports and (d) other reports and information as requested by the Sales Committee or as noted in the Sales Policies; * with the Sales Committee, developing new sources of advertising revenue and product income within CRTC guidelines and CKDU policies * with the Sales Committee, preparing and maintaining lists of current and potential advertising clients * with the Sales Committee, developing sales material inlcuding rate cards, business cards, forms and contracts and media kits, as well as research material such as market-rate advertising prices and timelines for sales objectives * coordinating paid and contra event sponsorships and all other contra arrangements * attending meetings with staff, the volunteers or the Board of Directors as required * liaise with the Promotions Committee The Sales Director will be paid a fee up to $1,000.00 for performance of duties related to CKDU's annual Funding Drive.
