CKDU is licensed to broadcast a variety of music and information programming not available through either private or public broadcasters. The station broadcasts to Halifax and the surrounding area including much of Dartmouth, Bedford, Sackville and Ecum Secum, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. NATURE OF THE JOB The Station Coordinator is responsible for administration and financial management at CKDU. Specifically, this involves developing and administering the operating and capital budgets; overseeing and monitoring grant applications and other fundraising; maintaining resources and office supplies; communicating with the CKDU Board of Directors, the Dalhousie Student Union, and external organizations; and working with the staff collective, committees and volunteers on station projects. This is a full-time position (40 hours per week). Remuneration is $9.46 per hour. APPLICABLE SKILLS The Station Coordinator must have financial management and administrative skills, and a strong understanding of campus/community radio, including familiarity with CRTC programming requirements and CKDU's promise of performance. Experience with community organizations and a demonstrated ability to work with volunteers are essential. The Coordinator must be open to a wide variety of cultural, musical, and political expressions. Strong written and verbal communication skills, organizational ability, and interpersonal relationship skills are required.
