We are committed to providing critical and alternative perspectives, and to exploring new, marginalised or otherwise unfamiliar issues, culture and music. We are looking for someone bold and dangerous to fill a permanent full-time position as Spoken Word Programming Department Coordinator. Responsibilites: The Spoken Word Coordinator is responsible for recruiting, training, coordinating, and providing resources for, spoken word department volunteers. The Spoken Word Coordinator must ensure that CKUT's public affairs, news, arts, cultural and community programs meet the standards of alternative broadcasting and public service journalism; that they are critical, fair, accurate, informative, empowering, and unlike anything broadcast elsewhere in Montreal. The Spoken Word Coordinator must ensure that CKUT's spoken word programming confroms to the station's policies, statement of principles, promise of performance and federal broadcast regulations. The Spoken Word Department Coordinator will work with the Community News/Production Coordinator and is a member of the programming, steering and station management committees. Qualifications: - versatile; creative; strong organizational skills; excellent interpersonal communications skills. - experience coordinating volunteers. - self-motivated and willing to initiate projects. - demonstrated commitment to public service and advocacy. - experience with script-writing, editing, documentary and technical radio production. - demonstrated training and teaching abilities. - demonstrated interest and engagement in political, cultural and community events and issues. - ability to write and speak English and French. Position details: minimum 35 hours/week, $16,620 per annum.
