Job posting - NCRA National Coordinator Tue, 23 Oct 2001 15:38:03 -0300 From: chsr please post at your stations: ****** The National Campus and Community radio Association/l'Association Nationale des Radio Etuduantes et Communautaires (NCRA/ANREC) is seeking a full time National Coordinator for its Montreal based National Office. The National Coordinator is responsible for the supervision, planning, organization, direction and management of the NCRA's National Office objectives, including music industry projects, Canadian talent development initiatives and the coordination of member stations in broadcast and special event projects. The National Coordinator administers all aspects of national projects, including the supervision of project staff; ensuring the regulatory, legal and copyright aspect of projects are met; representing the NCRA/ANREC's interests with project partners, including sponsors, NCRA members, artists, and others. The National Coordinator's position will evolve as the National Office does. A greater emphasis will be placed on general office duties including financial management and reporting at the beginning of the contract. Also, the National Coordinator will be required to focus on the groundwork and development needs of new projects in their establishment phase. The National Coordinator is responsible for maintaining the National Office, and assisting in a variety of national initiatives, as well as administering their own projects. They must be capable of self-directed, creative work. They will be working with members of the music industry in Canada. They will be engaged in live event management, overseeing audio recordings, national broadcast events promotions and advertising. The ability to work with members of the Campus and Community radio sector is essential. The National Coordinator works for member radio stations, and will be working with their representatives across Canada. Personal skills of the National Coordinator: Organization, Reliability and Leadership: The National Coordinator should exhibit a high level of organizational skill, be reliable and display the necessary leadership skills to motivate and provide direction. Availability and Approachability: The National Coordinator is required to be available to Paid Staff, Member Stations and Members of the Board of Directors. In addition, s/he should be easily approachable by volunteers, Directors, staff and outside groups and organizations. Knowledge: The National Coordinator should have strong working knowledge of radio and campus and community radio in particular, as well as industry experience with regards to live concerts, producing and distributing CDs and the legal aspects of both. In addition, a knowledge of financial management is required. Flexibility: Given the nature of the organization, flexibility with respect to routine and hours is an essential characteristic required of the National Coordinator. Dealing with member stations requires particular skills not necessarily identical to those criteria used to assess managers within a traditional corporate structure. Willingness to travel: The National Coordinator should be prepared to travel to other centres as need arises, including annual attendance at NCRA AGMs and NCRA Board in-person meetings at various localities in Canada as well as project meetings and some events and other meetings as required. Languages: The National Coordinator will be working with representatives from both the Francophone and Anglophone communities. They must be fluent, orally and written, in both languages.
