Being an English and Social Justice major and a Gen-Z member of this ever-changing society, I think it's important to appreciate and support each and every person, and I believe that it's incredible if this can be done through music. TH 1600-1630 What's Happening Outside?!
Lauren Yandt laurenyandt@trentu.ca
As an educator- specifically in the realm of environmental education- I’ve seen firsthand how people can be very quickly intimidated and discouraged after a conversation about our planet. In their defense, there’s a lot to be afraid of, and it’s easy to lose hope. The news reports only the most shocking and fear-inducing facts and stories, always failing to mention the things that are actually going right. A great portion of the world is working hard to combat climate change, supporting endangered species, naturalizing spaces, and protecting native land and its diverse ecologies. We are making a lot of positive progress that is making for a better, greener future! That is not common knowledge, though. I intend to educate our community about this kind of information. I want to make people feel relieved that our world is not doomed, and I furthermore want to inspire people to contribute to helping it heal! Contributions include educating others, so even if all my listeners do after hearing my show is share my stories and facts with someone else, we all of a sudden have a growing community of environmentalists in the city, and beyond!
